JOVY & VITTO

Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar in Bataan is an extraordinary setting: a heritage resort where restored Filipino houses form a town of cobbled streets, plazas, bridges and arcades. For Jovy and Vitto’s wedding, this gave us a whole world to work with.

We began with what was already there. The church opened onto the landscape, its craftsmanship and light giving it a character we wanted to amplify. Yellow light became the connecting element, bringing the architecture, plants and people into a shared field of colour.

We paired the luminous foliage of Dendrolobium umbellatum, grown by the Las Casas landscape team, with flowers and botanical materials gathered across the estate. Plants from the grounds found their way inside, their colour intensified by the light.

After the ceremony, guests gathered in Plaza Belmonte.

A custom tent fitted to the square’s proportions floated above its twin fountains. Rose bushes in full bloom stood alongside foraged lantana. Over the evening, water-heavy petals loosened and fell into the fountains.

Patterned tables and loose botanical arrangements filled the plaza, giving dinner the feeling of a town feast.

Then a marching band led guests through bridges and arcades, across the canal and towards the dance hall, with fireworks rising from the lagoon.

Against a façade recalling the historic Hotel de Oriente, the celebration changed again. Bataan gave way to Berlin: lasers, music and dancing took the evening somewhere few would have guessed from the afternoon’s yellow-lit church.
